Greg Sorkin, D.O., FACOEP, Is the Program Director of St. Michael's Emergency Medicine Program. He graduated from University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and persued his post graduate education at St. Michael's Medical Center. He now has the distinction of being Program Director.
Joseph J. Calabro, D.O., FACOEP, FACEP
Joseph J. Calabro, D.O., FACOEP, FACEP is chairman and associate professor of the Department of Emergency Medicine of Seton Hall University School of Health & Medical Sciences. He is a graduate of PCOM and completed an emergency medicine residency at Madigan Army Medical Center (Tacoma, Washington). Dr. Calabro also completed a flexible internship at Tripler Army Medical Center (Honolulu, Hawaii) and completed aviation medicine specialty training (flight surgeon) at Fort Rucker (Alabama). Dr. Calabro is board-certified in emergency medicine and the subspecialty EMS. He has been involved in emergency medicine residency training for more than 15 years, having founded and served as program director of two emergency medicine residency programs (Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Michael’s Medical Center). In addition, Dr. Calabro has held numerous positions of leadership in the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), as well as the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians and was president of the New Jersey Chapter of ACEP. He is presently vice president of the Northeastern Osteopathic Medical Education Network at the University of New England and is also an associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM). Dr. Calabro is a reviewer for numerous emergency medicine journals, has published many research articles and chapters and is a nationally known figure in emergency medicine.
Akbar Noormohamed, D.O.
Akbar Noormohamed, D.O. is core faculty and graduate of St. Michael's Emergency Medicine Residency. He graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Completed his Residency at St. Michael's and has been an intricate part of the program since. His deep compassion for medicine, and teaching, is apparent.
Mervin I. Griffin, M.D. FAAEM
Mervin I. Griffin, M.D., FAAEM is core faculty and graduate of an Emergency Medical Services Fellowship with greater the 10 years experience at various hospital systems across the country. He has been an integral part of our teaching institution and has the honors of being an assistant professor at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Albert Einstien College of Medicine. He has also served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama, and Mississippi. He also does yearly volunteer Medical Missions in Zimbabwe. He brings an element of diversity to our program and is a much valued asset.
